On August 11, 2025, the highly anticipated Andersen International Art Exhibition grandly opened at Kunst Bygningen Filosoffen (Filosoffen Art Museum) in Odense, Denmark.
The exhibition is organized by the Andersen Cultural and Art Development Committee of the Kingdom of Denmark and the Andersen Society (Copenhagen), and hosted by the Andersen (International) Art Award Executive Committee. Kunst Bygningen Filosoffen, situated along the Odense River, is itself a perfect embodiment of art and culture. The building’s exterior cleverly blends the rustic charm of Danish countryside red bricks with the simplicity of modern geometric lines, while its window frames and roof design exude a distinctive contemporary artistic vibe. Viewed from the riverside, history and modernity coexist in harmony. This venue not only serves as a showcase for artworks but also regularly hosts various cultural events, attracting art enthusiasts from around the world.

This year’s exhibition is themed “FRIENDSHIP”, carrying profound significance. It aims to use art as a bridge to promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding globally, providing a borderless platform for art enthusiasts from around the world.
On this stage, whether it is the innocent expression of young creators or the deeply thoughtful works of professional artists, each piece uses tools like brushes, scissors, and ink to convey a profound understanding of friendship and aspirations for cross-cultural communication. Every artwork becomes an emotional resonance that transcends borders, spreading warmth and goodwill.

In this exhibition, works from China stood out remarkably. Chinese artists skillfully blended Andersen’s fairy tales with the richness of traditional Chinese culture, employing unique artistic forms such as ink painting and intangible cultural heritage techniques to create a distinctive style. Some pieces depict The Ugly Duckling through paper-cutting, while others portray the fantastical world of Thumbelina using traditional Chinese brushwork. These works not only capture the essence of Andersen’s stories with precision but also vividly showcase the unique charm of Chinese art, earning widespread appreciation from international audiences and serving as a vibrant medium for cultural exchange between China and Denmark.

The Andersen International Art Exhibition continues to expand its reach, leaving a series of remarkable marks on its 2025 artistic journey: in May, the first stop in Copenhagen City Hall concluded successfully; currently in August, the Odense exhibition is in full swing; and in October, this art celebration will continue at Aarhus City Hall, offering a creative and heartfelt artistic feast to art enthusiasts worldwide.
