33rd International Visual Arts Competition 2026

The International Visual Arts Competition in France was founded in 1993 by Mr. Michel Giraud, Founding President of the Louis François UNESCO Centre (established in 1995) and the International Movement of Art for Youth (IMAJ, established in 2019). Since its inception, the competition has continued to grow and flourish across the globe.
This annual event—centered around a shared thematic focus—serves as an “open window to the world,” gathering artistic expressions from young people aged 25 and below. Its mission is to promote global youth artistic practice, bringing young participants together around this international initiative and fostering dialogue, respect, and a sense of responsibility.
The competition’s theme is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and is embedded within the framework of the “Pact for the Future” adopted by UNESCO, with the aim of contributing to a more united, equitable, and sustainable world. We encourage participants to use art as a medium to express their perspectives on the world and to demonstrate their commitment to peace, cultural diversity, social justice, and environmental protection.
A particular emphasis is placed on showcasing the richness of traditional artistic techniques, regarded as a living heritage that must be preserved. By advocating handcrafted and culturally rooted artistic creations, the competition highlights the creative act that connects the hand and the mind—an essential process for self-development and understanding the world.
IMAJ–UNESCO Centre is dedicated to ensuring that the childhood and youth of today are permanently recorded in the collective memory of humanity. Therefore, we remain committed to preserving all submitted artworks in the Memory of the Future® art archive. This living repository safeguards more than 96,500 artworks created by children and youth aged 3 to 25 from over 150 countries.
This year marks the 33rd edition of the International Visual Arts Competition, and the theme is:
“The Beauty of Life: Flora and Fauna — Life on Land, in the Sky, Underground, in Waters, and Underwater.”
