2024 OCIYAC New York TOP International Illustration Award (S2)
The 2024 OCIYAC New York TOP International Illustration Award (S2) is a high-level annual art competition co-hosted by the New York Contemporary Art Center, the Asian Artists Association of the United States, the Kyoto Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Institute (Japan), the American Chinese Association Youth Art Center, the St. Petersburg Art Center (Russia), the Japan Chinese Literature and Art Association, the Japan Nanfeng Ink Painting Association, the Tokyo Zuihitsu Association, the Japan International Exchange Center, the Hiroshima International Calligraphy Exchange Association, and the Tokyo Sumi-e Mokuran Association (Japan).
The 2024 OCIYAC New York TOP International Illustration Award (S2) will support UNICEF in providing a platform for young art-loving children worldwide to showcase their talents. With the aim of conveying the beautiful vision of peace and shared prosperity to the world, this competition calls on global attention to children’s rights and welfare. The theme of the 2024 OCIYAC New York TOP International Illustration Master Award (S2) is “Peace: Past, Present, and Future.”
At this time filled with challenges and opportunities, we believe that through the power of art, we can convey our reflections and aspirations for peace. In this current era, peace remains an incredibly precious commodity, yet individuals persist in their pursuit of these scattered treasures within humanity. Transforming weapons into brushes and warfare into the palette, artworks resonate most powerfully in interpreting these profoundly cherished aspirations. This is the very foundation upon which human artistic culture can continue to flourish.
These artists express their emotions and perspectives on life and the world through their unique visual language, rich with spirituality and authenticity. They use their brushes to depict a profound understanding of and a beautiful vision for peace. These artworks serve as countless pairs of eyes, gazing heavily upon the world, bringing tears to those who encounter their gaze, no matter how cruel they may be.
The expression and creation of these works have no uniform method, formal knowledge points, or standardized evaluation criteria. Through these award-winning pieces, we experience something called “freedom.” Everyone has the right to pick up tools to express the world; we all live under the same sky, and we should all have the same right to freely express our thoughts and ideas. We believe that the ideal of freedom is not only buried within these images but will also sprout in the hearts of every creator and viewer, leaving behind a delightful fragrance.

OCIYAC (Organizing Committee of the International Youth Art Competition) has upgraded its operations significantly. In April 2024, OCIYAC signed agreements with prominent North American chain brands including Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Big Lots, Ross, Dollar General, and Kirkland. This initiative promises unprecedented opportunities and benefits for young artists.
Starting from the 2024 OCIYAC New York TOP International Illustration Award, all award-winning artists will have the chance to have their works produced as prints and related artistic merchandise, which will be sold in tens of thousands of chain stores globally. All proceeds from these sales will go directly to the artists themselves. This marks a monumental opportunity for artists who not only gain recognition on the international stage but also have their creations showcased to a wider audience.
