AWESOME Art Competition
is SCWO’s first-ever art contest organized for students and young people. As part of our school outreach program,
“Project Awesome,”
this competition encourages young audiences to learn about the inspiring stories in the
Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame (SWHF)
and provides them with an opportunity to reflect on and express their own hopes, dreams, and aspirations.
AWESOME艺术竞赛是SCWO为学生和年轻人组织的首个艺术竞赛。作为我们学校外展项目“Project Awesome”的一部分,这个艺术竞赛鼓励年轻观众了解新加坡女性名人堂(SWHF)中的鼓舞人心的故事,并为他们提供思考和表达自己的希望、梦想和抱负的机会。

The launch of the AWESOME Art Competition was announced at the SCWO dinner on Monday, October 9. Young participants can access the stories of these remarkable women through the SWHF website or the book “Singapore’s Awesome Women” to learn about their journeys and struggles, and to understand the effort required to overcome challenges and live an inspiring life like theirs.
AWESOME艺术竞赛的启动在10月9日星期一的SCWO晚宴上宣布。年轻参赛者可以通过SWHF的网站或《新加坡令人敬畏的女性》书籍来获取这些令人敬畏的女性的故事,了解她们的旅程和挣扎,以及她们如何克服困难,过上像她们一样鼓舞人心的生活需要付出什么样的努力。

The art competition is open to
primary and secondary school students
, inviting submissions of
2D artworks
created using traditional or digital media.
Mixed media
works that combine different creative approaches are also accepted. Through these submissions, the
Project Awesome
initiative hopes to gain insight into the dreams and aspirations of our youth.
The competition offers a range of exciting prizes and appreciation gifts, which not only reward creativity and originality in artistic storytelling but also encourage those who view art as a source of strength, passion, and daily expression. The submission deadline for the AWESOME Art Competition is December 8, 2023, at 11:59 PM.
Winners will be announced on January 31, 2024.Participants can register and submit their entries directly through the TREE ART campus, with no entry fee.

What You Need to Do:
- Read the profiles of inspiring women on the Singapore Women’s Hall of Fame website (swhf.sg).
- Most of these profiles can also be found in brief in the book “Awesome Women of Singapore.”
- Choose one or more women who inspire you.
Competition Theme: (Create an artwork that includes at least one or more of the following)
- Capture the spirit of the chosen woman or group of women.
- Show how they overcame challenges and achieved their dreams.
- Inspire others, especially young people, to dream boldly and work toward achieving their goals.

Art Format
2D artwork
– Artworks may be created using traditional or digital media.
– Entries must be sized A2 (420mm x 594mm). Both landscape and portrait orientations are accepted.
– Entries must be scanned and submitted in JPG or PNG format, at a resolution of at least 72 dpi, with a file size not exceeding 10MB.
Submission Requirements
• A statement including the artwork title and a description of the artwork (100–150 words)
• 3–5 photos of the creative process, showing both the artwork and the artist, compiled into a single PDF file
• The final artwork at a resolution of at least 72 dpi. All files must carry the following labels:

Eligibility
Open to all primary and secondary school students in Singapore, including students from international and private schools.
Rules and Regulations
Deadline for artwork submission: 8 December 2023, 11:59pm.
Each participant may submit only one artwork.
If multiple entries are submitted, only the first submission will be considered.
Artwork must be kept to the specified size – A2 (420mm x 594mm).
Entries must be your own original work; plagiarism is not permitted.
Please keep your physical artwork until the results are announced. (If you are a winner, you will be invited to bring your physical artwork to collect your prize, along with the opportunity for it to be exhibited.)
Prizes
All participants will receive a certificate of participation, and stand a chance to win prizes such as an iPad, a Wacom Tablet, art supplies, and more.
Terms and Conditions
Use of Submitted Artwork
Once you submit your artwork, SCWO may use it within Project Awesome programmes for marketing and promotional purposes. If we use your artwork, you will be credited.
Copyright
All art competition participants retain joint copyright ownership of their submitted works. Each participant agrees to jointly own and share the copyright of their submission with the competition organiser, granting both parties equal rights and responsibilities in using, reproducing, and distributing the submission, subject to mutual agreement and coordination.
Competition Results
Winners will be announced on 31 January 2024. The names of winners will be published on the competition website.
