Ugo Gattoni
The Paris 2024 Olympic Committee enlisted the Parisian illustrator Ugo Gattoni, known for his skillful use of color, to design the official posters for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. To complete these posters, Gattoni worked in solitude in his studio from September 19th, 2023 to January 19th, 2024, spending a total of 2,000 hours hand-drawing them. He artfully integrated his signature personalized illustration style with the unique charm of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The two posters, representing the Olympics and Paralympics, can be displayed separately or side by side, demonstrating the equal importance of both events.
Breaking from the traditionally minimalist style of Olympic posters, Gattoni’s designs are rich in elements and detail. The Seine River flows through the image, and its intricate details are so precise that even thousands of tiny characters are clear, creating a beauty of complexity likened to a “French version of ‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival.'”
In the nighttime version of the posters, Gattoni manually adjusted about 2,000 different colors, adding in fireworks and lighting effects to create a dynamic night scene.

“When I illustrate, I tell stories to myself, envisioning scenes that come to life, animated. It’s like delving deeper into the narrative. I can give my horses a way of walking, an emotion, etc. For me, it’s an excellent way to complete the story I want to tell, offering more elements to immerse the viewer in the world of my illustrations.” – French Illustrator Ugo Gattoni.
Ugo Gattoni
