DSA (Direct School Admission) is a direct recruitment program launched by Singapore that aims to allow students with specific talents to apply to secondary schools (DSA-SEC) or junior colleges (DSA-JC) that can further develop their talents before the Primary 6 Leaving Examination or O-Level Examination!
DSA（Direct School Admission）是新加坡推出的一项直接招生计划，旨在让具有特定专长的学生，在小六离校考试或O水准会考前，申请进入能让他们进一步发挥专长的中学（DSA-SEC）或初院（DSA-JC）！
In short, DSA provides students with an opportunity to skip secondary school entrance examinations and gain admission to their dream school based on their artistic talents and potential!

What talents are included in DSA?
DSA包含哪些才艺？
As a recruitment program in Singapore’s education system, DSA aims to select outstanding students by assessing their talents and potential in specific areas. Therefore, students with such talents can apply for the DSA recruitment program.
DSA作为新加坡学校系统中的一项招生计划，它旨在通过考察学生在特定专长领域的才能和潜力来选拔优秀的学生。所以具备这类特定专长学生就可以申请DSA招生计划了。
Currently, the talents that can be applied for in DSA are divided into academic and non-academic categories, totaling seven:

Students can list up to three options when applying. They can choose to apply to three schools with the same talent or to the same school with different talents, but are limited to two talents.
学生在申请时可列最多三个选项，可选择以同个才艺报读三所学校，或以不同才艺申请同一所学校，但以两个才艺为限。
This means that you only need to learn one of the above talents to participate in the DSA direct recruitment program.
也就是说，只需要学习以上才艺中的一种就可以参加DSA直招计划了。

What are the selection criteria for DSA schools?
DSA school admissions mainly consider students’ school performance and performance during the selection exam process, specifically:
Student’s school performance:
This mainly includes grades from Primary 5 and SA1 of Primary 6. If the school’s requirements are met, an invitation for the selection exam will be received. As for how high the grades should be, it depends on the school and the type of talent.
Academic and non-academic talents have different grade requirements.
Academic DSA: Academic requirements are similar to the school’s admission score line (for IP schools, a total score of AL8-10 or higher for four subjects, with exceptional performance in a single subject, would provide an opportunity for an interview).
Non-Academic DSA: Academic requirements can be 6-8 points lower than the school’s admission score line.
DSA in art falls under non-academic talents, so the academic requirements are slightly lower.
Performance during the selection exam process:
Different types of talent have different content and formats for the selection exam. For art-based talents, the selection exam is in the form of a live audition. Therefore, DSA in art primarily involves participating in the selection exam through on-site drawing.
If the above requirements are met, an offer from the school will be received.

DSA学校的遴选标准是什么？
DSA 学校的录取主要考量学生的在校成绩和选拔考试过程中的表现，具体为：
学生的在校成绩：
主要包括小五的成绩和小六SA1的成绩，若达到学校要求，会收到选拔考试的邀请。至于多少成绩能达标，主要看学校以及才艺类型。
一般学术类和非学术类才艺，成绩标准是不一样的。
学术类DSA：对学业方面的要求和学校录取分数线相差不大（如果是IP学校，四门总分在AL8-10分以上，单科比较突出，才会有面试的机会）
非学术类DSA：学业要求可以比学校分数线降低6-8分
DSA美术属于非学术类才艺，因此学业要求门槛会稍微低一点
选拔考试过程中的表现：
不同的才艺类型，选拔考试的内容和形式也是不一样的，艺术类的是试演形式，因此DSA美术主要就是通过现场绘画形式参与选拔考试。
如果以上都达到学校要求，就会收到学校的offer。

Which schools can be entered through DSA?
申请DSA可以进入哪些学校？
There are a total of 146 schools participating in DSA for secondary schools in Singapore, with a total of 3500 places available. Currently, the percentage of places reserved for DSA in Singapore autonomous schools is as high as 20%, while the percentages for government-aided and specialized schools are 10% and 5%, respectively.
新加坡参与中学DSA的学校共有146所，总计有3500个名额。目前，新加坡自主学校DSA的学额，高达20％，自治学校和有专长项目的学校的录取比率，则为10％和5％。

These schools are divided into five categories:
– Integrated Programme (IP)
This is a program that allows high-achieving students in Singapore secondary schools to skip the GCE Ordinary Level (O-level) examination (usually taken by students at the end of their fourth or fifth year of secondary school) and go through six years of secondary education to take the GCE Advanced Level (A-level) examination (usually taken by students at the end of their second or third year of high school), International Baccalaureate (IB) or equivalent examinations.

Criteria for entering this type of school:
Those who can enter IP schools are generally the top performers! Most students who want to enter IP schools at their current pace must first complete a four-year O-level course, followed by a two-year A-level education.
进入该类型学校的标准：
能进入IP学校的，一般都是表现最佳的人才！大多数学生的主体按照目前速度要进入IP学校，首先需完成一个为期四年的O-level课程，然后再进行为期两年的A-level教育。

– Art ElectiveProgramme（AEP）
The Art Elective Programme (AEP) is a four-year course launched by the Singapore Ministry of Education. It is specifically designed for students with an artistic inclination, aiming to nurture them into practitioners, scholars, advocates, and leaders in the field of art.
这是由新加坡教育部推出，是一个为期四年的课程，专为有艺术倾向的学生设计，旨在培养学生成为艺术领域的从业者、学者、倡导者和领导者。
Characteristics of this type:

Students can expand and balance their art curriculum, including studio practice and art critique components.
They can explore and participate in a series of materials, media, and creative processes.
They have access to specialized studio facilities, equipment, and resources, with opportunities to learn from professional artists and higher education students and staff.
They can participate in advanced art syllabi at the O-level, accumulating learning experiences such as seminars, exhibition showcases, and community projects.
Students can substitute the Design & Technology (D&T) and Food & Consumer Education (FCE) courses in secondary school to manage their curriculum time and study load.

这是新加坡中学生在4年中学教育结束后统一参加的考试，学生可以用获得的成绩为标准申请进入新加坡初级学院、理工学院或工艺教育学院等。

SOTA offers a 6-year program that combines arts and academics, and graduates are awarded the “International Baccalaureate” (IB) diploma.

Different talents have different forms of selection tests. For example, sports involve trials, arts involve auditions, and academics involve written tests. The difficulty level varies from person to person, so it’s best to choose a talent based on the child’s interests.
不同的才艺，选拔考试的形式不同，比如体育类是试训、才艺类是试演、学术类是笔试，难易程度因人而异，还是要根据孩子的兴趣选择适合的才艺。
According to past cases, when there’s no particular talent that a child excels in, 60% of parents and students choose the art direction. This is because it has no threshold, is relatively simple to learn, and has a more open exam format, making it easier for most students to get started.

There is no threshold for learning DSA art. According to statistics, it is more appropriate for students aged 6-8 to start learning DSA art. At this stage, students’ ability to receive information and master knowledge is relatively strong.
