According to a research report from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) in December 2015, visual arts are beneficial for early childhood development (from infancy to eight years old).

The report, led by project analysis expert Melissa Menzer, found a correlation between the arts and human social and emotional skills such as helping, caring, and sharing.

At the same time, NEA’s art education expert Terry Liu discovered that art is no longer seen as a creative pursuit, but rather as a skill that assists children in learning other subjects. Art serves as a channel for understanding the world.

Jennifer Drake, a psychologist and assistant professor at Brooklyn College, has shown through a series of studies that sketching can alleviate negative emotions. Therefore, we encourage parents to involve their children in art activities as early as possible so that they can grow up healthy and have a happy childhood.

Barbara McKie, executive director of the Children’s Museum of the Arts, once said in an interview that she believes encouraging curiosity can help children develop their natural abilities. “I think, to some extent, you don’t want to instill interest in the arts in children, they already have it.” As parents, we should not suppress our children’s imaginative abilities and there is no need to indoctrinate them that apples are red and the sky is blue. Allowing children’s imaginations to be unrestricted can maximize their potential. By observing children in the creative process, people will be happy to trust them and thus stimulate their imagination.
儿童艺术博物馆执行董事芭芭拉·麦克拉纳汉在采访中曾说过相信鼓励好奇心可使孩子发展天性。“我认为，在某种程度上，你不要灌输孩子们对艺术的兴趣，孩子们已经拥有它了。” 作为家长我们不要压制孩子天马行空的想象力，无需灌输苹果是红色的，天空是蓝色的。让孩子的想象力不受限才能让他们的能力最大化。通过观察孩子在创作过程中会为人们的信任感到开心从而促进想象力。

Taiwanese aesthetics master Jiang Xun once said, “The most important thing about art is the philosophy of life behind it.” In creative art classes, teachers primarily focus on the students’ experience during the creative process rather than the visual effects. We believe that it is more important to let children appreciate the beauty of life through creative art rather than exposing them to professional art too early. Although early exposure to professional art can make their skills more sophisticated, children may lose the ability to instinctively use their bodies to enjoy pure happiness and the unknown feeling of paint flowing freely on the canvas during the process.
台湾美学大师蒋勋曾说, “艺术最重要的是背后的生活哲学”。在创意美术课中，老师首要关注的是学员创作过程的体验而不是画面效果。我们认为比起太早让孩子接触专业性美术，让孩子通过创意美术感知到生活的美好更重要。我们承认越早接触专业美术会让技巧日渐娴熟，但是孩子中过程中会失去本能性运用肢体享受纯粹的快乐和感受颜料在画布上自由流动的未知感。
